The 4rd annual Hinckley Pilot Rendezvous took place on August 8th in Round Pond, Maine. It was hosted by Beth and Buzz Billik and brought together Pilot owners who traveled from great distances to those who moor for the season in nearby coves.

Eight Pilots sailed in for the night, while 6 other boats were represented by land cruisers. Californians Tom and Bonni Funkhauser, architects of the new Pilot social on-line network NING, were on hand to familiarize owners with the site. Over 50 attendees enjoyed an evening of merrymaking and in the end, lively singing, led by 4 talented sailor musicians. Another successful pairing of Pilot owners and contentment.

The following day 5 Pilots headed out for a full day of spirited sailing, guided by Turner and Margie Hansel onboard Sandpiper. The group threaded through the islands of Muscungous Bay, settling for an overnight in Turkey Cove, on the St. George River. (see photos of the cruise posted by Acapella on the NING site)

Discussions are already underway for a gathering next season further west, possibly in the vicinity of South Freeport. Check the HPA website next spring for updates.
