Mystic Seaport Honors Olin Stephens II


The Hinckley Pilot Association sponsored a table at the 2006 Mystic Seaport extravaganza, America & the Sea. The black tie affair, hosted by the historic St. Regis hotel in NYC, honored Olin Stephens for his decades of design genius. The original Pilot class boat was designed by Sparkman & Stephens in 1945.

Pilot owners from both coasts were represented, including Bonni and Tom Funkhouser who came all the way from Mill Valley, CA! Unfortunately, Olin himself was unable to attend the event due to health reasons. His siblings and many close friends were on hand to raise a glass in his honor.

Maine Boat Builders Show 2007


Some 28 folks attended the HPA winter meeting at Gilbert's Chowder House in Portland, ME. Ten Pilot owners under one roof during a fierce winter Nor'easter is a testament to the breed who chooses to own a Pilot!

Summer 2008 HPA dinner


Hectic schedules and gloomy weather put a damper on a formal cruise for the summer of 2008, but over 30 assorted Pilot owners, HPA members and families gathered for a festive dinner at the Billik household. Seven Pilots were moored in Round Pond harbor and six more boats were represented by land cruisers.
